Pencils for a Captain America commission

In keeping with our patriotic theme, here's a scan of the nearly finished pencils for a commission I did a few years ago.

This isn't a character most people would associate with me but it was a lot of fun to draw. The central villain almost became the Red Skull but I changed him to Hitler at the last minute.

what do you think of the current incarnation of Cap's uniform?

  2. I like it! It's probably harder to draw but it's more believable.

  3. I really like the way the foreground soldiers frame this one, and the musculature on Cap is great!

  4. I will say I like Cap in this drawing. And correct from you that it is a character most of us haven't seen you partake in drawing. Which begs the question, is there other characters you wish you would get the chance to draw more? Or at all?

Be interesting to see your take on something like Galactus or Jonah Hex...hint...hint. :)

  5. Not too much. If I was really dying to draw something I could always pick up a pencil and draw it.

Galactus? Really? I'll confess, I do have one of those talking Galactus toys gathering dust in my studio. But I've never felt the urge to draw him for some reason.

  6. Well, the Galactus would be purely from the standpoint of seeing if you could channel Kirby while adding your own flair.

Now Jonah Hex...well, you know I love the title and what Jimmy and Justin are doing with it.

  7. Yeah, I like Jonah Hex as well. Despite my local color, I'd probably be a fairly inadequate western artist. Guys like Alan Weiss who are really into that stuff do a far better job drawing horses and side arms and all the props and costumes.

I like drawing old stuff but not quite that old.

  9. A very interesting game between The patriotic and serious hero and pathetic and humoristic Hitler´s face.
    Congratulations! (as always)
